Welcome to IVCH! It is our privilege to serve you and your loved ones during this time of need.

IVCH offers a variety of special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Cafeteria

The IVCH cafeteria is open to serve visitors and family members at the following hours:

  • Breakfast, 7 to 10:15 a.m. weekdays.
  • Lunch, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. seven days a week.
  • Dinner, 4 to 6:30 p.m. seven days a week.
  • Free coffee and tea is available in the cafeteria 24 hours a day.

Flowers

Local florists also deliver flowers to the hospital daily, except on Sunday. Floral arrangements are not permitted in intensive care rooms. Please do not hang floral arrangement from drapery rods, shelves or television brackets.

Identification bracelets

You must wear your plastic identification bracelet at all times while you are a patient. This will ensure that you receive the correct medicine and treatment.

Infection control measures

Infection control procedures at IVCH are designed to protect our patients and staff from cross-infection.

You may notice that hospital staff are wearing gloves, gowns, masks and/or goggles when caring for you. All infection control procedures will be explained to you by your doctor and nurses.

Interpreters/communication assistance

IVCH has access to interpreters for patients who require it. Arrangements can be made for other communication assistance as needed.

Mail

Mail is delivered to your room daily (except Sunday) by our auxilians. Stamps are available in the Lobby Shoppe.

Medical records

A complete medical record is kept for each admission to the hospital. This is available for reference by your doctor. The record, including x-ray film and laboratory slides, is the property of the hospital.

Need a ride to IVCH?

Call the IVCH transportation service at 815.780-3337.

  • Rides to and from IVCH, IVCH physician offices and the Hygienic Institute.
  • Weekday service.
  • Wheelchair-accessible vans.
  • Nominal fee.

Newspapers

Local and national newspapers may be purchased from vending machines located on the first floor.

Notary public

If you have need for a notary public, tell your nurse and she will arrange for one to visit your room to assist you. There is no charge for this service.

Parking

  • Visitor parking lots are designated.
  • You may also park in the IVCH parking garage across from the West Street entrance. The garage parking fee is 25 cents.
